En febrero de 2022 abrí un documento en blanco y lo titulé «This is Valentino». Estaba en mi último año en la University of the Arts London y tenía clara una cosa: cuando llegara el momento de vender Según Platón, no quería depender solo de una biblia. Quería que los ejecutivos vieran a Valentino antes de leerlo.In February 2022 I opened a blank document and titled it “This is Valentino”. I was in my final year at the University of the Arts London and one thing was clear to me: when the moment came to sell Según Platón, I did not want to depend on a bible alone. I wanted executives to see Valentino before they read him.

Según Platón propone algo que nuestras pantallas todavía no se atreven a mostrar: un hombre gay que no mide su hombría por con quién se acuesta ni por cómo se viste, sino por su fuerza, su resistencia y su integridad. Un nuevo tipo de macho.Según Platón proposes something our screens still do not dare to show: a gay man who measures his manhood not by who he sleeps with or how he dresses, but by his strength, his endurance and his integrity. A new kind of macho.

El concepto. Una instalación audiovisual con forma de promo, dividida en cuatro partes. Uno: una silueta sin camiseta bajo un foco, las vendas y los guantes colgando. Dos: el saco de boxeo, luz azul, polvo, un hombre fuerte y en conflicto. Tres: el vestidor, la ducha, el silencio. Cuatro: chaqueta negra, pantalón de cuero, tacones rojos y la puerta que se cierra. Una regla para todo el rodaje: Valentino no se reconoce nunca. Es un cuerpo y una actitud, no una cara.The concept. An audiovisual installation shaped like a promo, in four parts. One: a shirtless silhouette under a single light, wraps and gloves hanging. Two: the heavy bag, blue light, dust, a strong man in conflict. Three: the changing room, the shower, silence. Four: black jacket, leather trousers, red heels and the door closing. One rule for the whole shoot: Valentino is never recognisable. He is a body and an attitude, not a face.

Las referencias. Mezclamos lenguajes que casi nunca se cruzan: tráilers de películas de MMA, campañas de ropa interior masculina y un momento de Madonna en vivo que tanto Valentino como yo llevamos en la sangre. No era para copiar nada. Era para alinear a todo el equipo hacia la misma sensualidad y la misma tensión.The references. We mixed languages that almost never meet: MMA film trailers, men’s underwear campaigns and a live Madonna moment that both Valentino and I carry in our blood. It was not about copying anything. It was about aligning the whole team towards the same sensuality and the same tension.
