Este curso empezó con obstáculos mayores que los que ha enfrentado la mayoría de estudiantes en décadas. La humanidad atraviesa una pandemia que impacta a las sociedades en todos los sentidos: economías, medicina y sistemas educativos en todo el mundo.This term started with bigger obstacles than most students have faced in the past decades. Currently, humankind deals with a pandemic impacting societies in every way. From economies, medicine, and educational systems globally.
Ante el reto de rodar en localizaciones distintas por el COVID, propuse usar elementos reconocibles en el diseño de producción y en el vestuario para lograr la ilusión de haber rodado en el mismo lugar. Saqué estos libros de mi biblioteca y los compartí con el equipo y con otros cineastas.When faced with the challenges of COVID and filming in different locations, I suggested using recognizable elements in the production design process and wardrobe style to accomplish the illusion of being shot in the same location. I pulled these books from my library and shared with the crew and a few other filmmakers.

Entender la diferencia entre un guionista y un novelista ha sido una de las grandes lecciones de este curso. Contar historias siempre ha sido mi forma de expresión artística, y aprender a escribir para la pantalla es la habilidad más valiosa que aspiro a dominar.Understanding the difference between a screenwriter and a novelist has been one of the greatest lessons this term. Storytelling has always been a way of artistic expression for me and learning to write for the screen has to be the most valuable skill I aim to master yet.

He tried to distract himself with hobbies but when faced with his annoying and bored neighbor Linda, he cannot help himself but to imagine all the things he could do to her if given the chance.
He producido, me atrevo a decir, cientos de sesiones de fotos en mi carrera. Pero producir un cortometraje fue un monstruo completamente distinto, y más en confinamiento. Trabajar con otros cineastas desarrollando la experiencia audiovisual de una historia es mi nueva área favorita del entretenimiento.I have produced, I dare say, hundreds of photoshoots in my career thus far, however, producing a short-film was a completely different monster, specially during lockdown. Working with other filmmakers developing an audio-visual experience of one story is my new favorite area of entertainment.

Codirigir con Daniel Noble fue una experiencia mágica y me recordó por qué quise ser cineasta. Creó un concepto diseñado para recordarnos lo que importa, no solo como artistas sino como seres humanos.Co-directing with Daniel Noble was a magical experience and reminded me why I wanted to become a filmmaker in the first place. He created a concept designed to remind us of what is important not only as artists but as human-beings as well.

Diseñar el vestuario de este corto en remoto fue exigente, intrincado y divertido. Empecé creando un moodboard con el trabajo de diseñadores y artistas de otro planeta, gente del calibre de Rick Owens y Michelle Lamy, que fueron una inspiración enorme para el resultado final que verán en la película.Costume designing for this short-film electronically was quite challenging, intricate and fun. I started by creating a mood-board that included the work of 'out of this world' fashion designers and artists that included people of the caliber of Rick Owens and Michelle Lamy, who served me as huge inspiration for the final work you will see in the film.
